A letter from the Police Complaints Commission to me dated 19/8/1988.

Dear Mrs. Wright,

In the light of the information given in your letter of 10th August, the commission is examining the procedures available under the legislation and is referring the matter again to Complaints & Discipline Branch of the Royal Ulster Constabulary.

It seems to the Commission that your representations constitute a complaint within the definition of Article 2(2) of the Police (Northern Ireland) Order 1987 and should be dealt with accordingly.

It is to be hoped that preliminary enquiries by the Royal Ulster Constabulary would produce records which would show the ranks of any officers connected with or in charge of the original fraud investigation. This information would help to clarify to what exthet the matter should be dealt with by the commission an whether it should be referred to the Police Authority.

When these various complex matters have been resolved, the Commission will contact you and let you know how it is intended to proceed.

Yours sincerely,

P. Russell
for Secretary.
