Dear Mrs Wright
IN THE MATTER OF FREDERICK ANDREWS - 1978 NO 516
Your letters dated 11 April and 14 May 1989 addressed to the Prime Minister and your undated letter addressed to the Lord Chancellor together with enclosures have been forwarded to this office for reply. I am writing to you as the Director, Mr E A Simpson, is on leave.
The matters about which you have written to the Prime Minister and to Lord Mackay have been the subject of previous correspondence in which you had had an experimental of the limits of Ministerial and departmental involvement in cses which are still before the court.
As recently as 5 April 1989, Mr Simpson wrote to you in response to your letter of 9 March 1989 addressed to the Prime Minister, advising you how to proceed. I can only refer you again to the second paragraph of that letter.
Yours sincerely
J B SMYTH
Deputy Director
